DUBLINERS MAY BE well used to seeing the Viking Splash Tour tearing around town, but seeing Norsemen on the street?
Now that’s unusual.
Lorraine Cronin was on her way to work this morning when she found herself in the middle of a Viking battle on the Samuel Beckett Bridge.
And just a few metres down the bank she spotted some more Vikings terrorising a tall ship.
She wasn’t the only one who saw them either.
Could this be a very well-played out April Fool? No, actually.
It turns out that about 500 Vikings were in town to celebrate the launch of Dublin City Council’s Battle of Clontarf Festival, which takes place in St Anne’s Park over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
They’ve made a few pit stops on their way to the battle site though, while testing out the city’s public transport.
Taking a stroll around Grafton Street and St Stephen’s Green.
Paying a visit to Google HQ.
And terrorising a few har-working locals while they’re at it.
